Introduction to Undertrees

My last name, Kinoshita, loosely translates to "under the tree(s)" and I've long daydreamed of having a brand called Undertrees. When I created this blog and newsletter, nothing felt more right for its name than that: although my family isn't from Sacramento, I've made my home here in the City of Trees.

Although I'm usually writing in Sacramento or the Greater Sacramento area, I won't only cover Sacramento-based works. Anything that catches my fancy might get covered, but the focus will be on visual media, writing, games, and history. Those three categories are quite broad, though; a lot can fit under those trees!

Many of my posts about fiction will focus on fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and occasionally contemporary fiction. US history is my area of concentration, but I will also cover the history of other nations. Because fiction often reflects real life, I'll also write about the history of certain genres and how the real world impacted fiction and vice versa!
