Most ghost stories are tied to the history of a person or a place; vibrant lives that were extinguished and did not fully leave our realm behind. Looking for ghosts involves learning about who they were, where they lived, what they did, and how they spoke.

In the Haunts & History newsletter, I go further than my ghost tours do, sometimes expanding on the stories and histories of the old town ghosts, but I also tell the tales of spirits beyond the cobblestone roads of Old Sacramento. I promise everything will be as accurate as possible because truth is important, especially when trying to connect with ghosts.

When we're armed with real knowledge, we're better able to understand the people who lived different lives than we d0, that grew up in different times, different cultures, and moved through the world differently. We're also better able to understand the limitations of our tools; for example, if a spirit box only registers English words, it's going to misinterpret ghosts that speak other languages, and if we only know words and phrases common in the 21st century, we might misunderstand what those from centuries before are trying to say!
