Finish Your Damn Novel Month

Don't worry if what you're writing is "good"—it's all about just getting words on the page, a first messy draft to work with later!

After multiple controversies and the ultimate closure of the nonprofit organization that ran National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) since 1999, many writing groups have found their own ways to maintain the frenzy of writing an entire 50,000 word novel in November. I'll be entertaining my own masochism by participating this year after taking a few years off.

In the month of November, Orchard Crew level subscribers (the 10 USD tier) can follow along with the ins and outs of my progress with my November novel. The book I'll probably write for it is different than the one I thought I'd write. For most of my monthly prose craft sessions, I worked on a werewolf book, but apocalypse fever struck me again. Besides a lifetime of reading, watching, and listening to apocalypse fiction, I've also dabbled in writing it, so it might be just the topic that I could pants my way through in the frenzy of November while surrounded by other local writers.

Subscribe to Orchard Crew or higher through the Undertrees newsletter to follow my descent into madness.

If you want to write your own novel in November too, about 1667 words a day will get you across the finish line by November 30th! Don't worry if what you're writing is "good"—it's all about just getting words on the page, a first messy draft to work with later!
